The right to die: the dilemma for A&E nurses

Prof Nurse. 1996 Apr;11(7):435-6.

Abstract

Older people have the highest suicide rate of any age group. A&E staff are faced with patients who have taken an overdose and ask to be allowed to die. Care of such patients in A&E should not only be concerned with the physical aspects but must respond to the individual's needs and problems.
