Ann Plast Surg. 1980 Dec;5(6):464-70. doi: 10.1097/00000637-198012000-00009.

Abstract

Porcine heterografts are effective in the treatment of cutaneous ulcers as biological bandages that promote healing by: speeding the processes of granulation and epithelialization; maintaining a clean covering over the wound; reducing loss of fluid and protein; and preventing bacterial encroachment.
