    Interactions of professionals with families represents an important factor for donation consent. The performance of professionals in tertiary hospitals must be comprehensive to help the family of the diagnosis, to evaluate social conditions, to verify the patient's life from clinical records, to discover the family-patient social history, and to determine eligibility for potential donation.1–4 Currently, organ donation rates in Brazil are increasing,1 but it is still necessary to improve them in several aspects: public awareness of the importance of organ donation, demystifying the issue of brain death, and investing in the structures of accredited hospitals.
