Impact of a Nurse-Led Advance Care Planning Intervention on Satisfaction, Health-Related Quality of Life, and Health Care Utilization Among Patients With Severe Respiratory Disease: A Randomized Patient-Preference Trial
2020, Journal of Pain and Symptom ManagementCitation Excerpt :This study reports on participant self-reported and clinical outcomes associated with allocation to the facilitated ACP intervention. The three generic measures were the Client Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ-18), which consists of 18 items assessing satisfaction with health care services [24]; the Consultation Satisfaction Questionnaire (ConsultSQ), which has 18 items assessing clinician consultations [23]; and the Patient Satisfaction Index (PSI), which has 23 items covering satisfaction with medical care [53]. The incontinence measure was the revised version of the Genito-Urinary Treatment Satisfaction Scale (GUTSS), which comprises eight items assessing satisfaction with treatment outcomes for urinary incontinence [14].
Improving the ICU: Part 1
2005, ChestCitation Excerpt :There are numerous potential dimensions to such surveys in ICU care, including satisfaction with the following: (1) level of care from physicians, nurses, and other ancillary health-care personnel; (2) involvement in decisions regarding care; (3) amount and quality of communications with health-care and administrative personnel; (4) outcomes of care; (5) administrative hospital functions, such as admissions, discharges, and billing; (6) food; and (7) housekeeping. Although some have disputed the validity of currently used methods,129130 a variety of tools exist to measure these aspects of satisfaction, including some created specially for use in ICUs.10,12,72131,132,133134 The satisfaction of all those who work in an ICU is another key component of ICU performance.
Agreement among family members in their assessment of the quality of dying and death
2004, Journal of Pain and Symptom ManagementCitation Excerpt :However, it is difficult to capture the patient's perspective from family report, and the family members' perspectives may be influenced by grief and other emotions.1 Previous studies reveal potential difficulties in the accuracy of proxy reports.2–8 If family members are the source of information about the quality of the dying process, the extent of agreement among family members on quality ratings of key experiences needs to be documented and understood.
