Informed decision | One where a reasoned choice is made by a reasonable individual using relevant information about the advantages and disadvantages of all the possible courses of action, in accord with the individual’s beliefs15 |
Autonomous choice | One which occurs when people act (1) intentionally, (2) with understanding, and (3) without controlling influences that determine their actions16 |
Evidence based patient choice | The use of evidence based information as a way of enhancing people’s choices when these people are patients13 |
