RT Journal Article SR Electronic T1 The kidney trade: or, the customer is always wrong. JF Journal of Medical Ethics JO J Med Ethics FD BMJ Publishing Group Ltd and Institute of Medical Ethics SP 120 OP 123 DO 10.1136/jme.16.3.120 VO 16 IS 3 A1 B Brecher YR 1990 UL http://jme.bmj.com/content/16/3/120.abstract AB Much of the opinion scandalized by recent reports of kidneys being sold for transplant is significantly inconsistent. The sale of kidneys is not substantially different from practices espoused, and indeed endorsed, by many of those who condemn the former. Our moral concern, I suggest, needs to focus on the customer's actions rather than the seller's; and on the implications for larger questions of the considerations to which this gives rise.
